I spent a year and a half deciding which smoker to purchase. This was the one! It is a quality built product, 1/4 inch steel. It holds temperature evenly in the cook chamber. I got the loaded package. I called and Anthony explained everything in great detail. Customer service was great. If you want a great smoker look no further. They also have free shipping. I had quotes from others for up to $900 for shipping. Also BBQGuys were great at giving info on this smoker. They have a video review on their site. If you are on the fence…go head and jump into this one.
I researched my purchase for months before buying my Texas Original Pit. I looked at all the top pit makers from Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas. At the end of the day it came down to quality and value. Put aside the YouTube expert keyboard cooks, put aside catchy jingles about your smoker. You want a pit that will last your whole life to hand down to your kids. This is that pit. Large capacity, excellent build quality, and competitive price. Go look at the same size and quality of other pit makers. Add in shipping. You end up right back here.

Man, what can I say! I love this smoker and grill! I can smoke BBQ and grill, using the firebox, and I have even cold smoked cheese. Sometimes I just feel like grilling some burgers, hotdogs, arracheras, mollejas, etc. Some of my family members prefer smoked meat and others prefer the grill and char flavor on their meat. Either way, I can do both at the same time to appease each appetite. Somehow, I became the BBQ person at our family gatherings. I used to have a small grill from Walmart, but that grill was cheaply made and didn’t have enough grilling surface for all the meat my family wanted me to BBQ.
So, after extensive research I went with Texas Original BBQ Pits. I’m extremely happy in the performance of this smoker/grill and the overall construction. It is on the heavier side but that just shows you how well-built this tank is. I have owned a couple of grills but I had never owned a smoker before. I had to learn how to produce clear/clean smoke, I had to figure out how to hold the temperatures I wanted by adjusting the airflow, and when to add fuel to bring up the temperature during the cook. There is a learning curve but it is all well worth it when you taste the smoke and grill flavors and when you become the go to person at family BBQs. Practice makes perfect!
