You will be surprised at the Luling’s efficiency and ease of use. Offset smokers can be notoriously tricky for smoking newbies, but not so with the Luling! Dual dampers for airflow adjustment, 3” multi-temp zone heart gauges and leak free, all-steel construction means that the Luling smoker will provide you with steady temperatures with fewer adjustments over the hours of smoking. This efficient design also means that you will require less wood to produce the maximum amount of heat, since you won’t be losing any temperature through any leaky weld seams or through thin metal construction.
Luling was founded in 1874 as a railroad town and became a rowdy center for the cattle drivers on the Chisholm Trail. Contempt of the law by the cowboys helped Luling become known as the "toughest town in Texas". After the great cattle drives ended in the late 1880s, Luling quieted down to a town of about 500 and cotton ruled the local economy. Perhaps due to arrival of immigrants, in the late-19th century, Luling began a long, slow, period of growth, and by 1925 the population reached 1,500.
As oil grew in importance in the 1930s and 1940s, the railroads that helped form the town declined and largely pulled out of Luling.
We’re not sure how much more Texan you can get than an offset smoker.
These barbecuing bad boys were most likely conceived by oilfield workers looking for a way to smoke some meat and get a little taste of home when they were way out in the field. It probably didn’t take long for those 55-gallon surplus drums and unused oil piping to start looking a lot like a grill and a smoker.
Originally, offset smokers were based off the concept of traditional brick barbecues popularized by German settlers to Texas. These enclosed barbecues allowed the smoke to permeate the meat while it cooked at low, steady temperatures for hours at a time.
While effective, these brick barbecues were anything but mobile. Luckily, offset smokers are so mobile that you can put your pitmaster’s apron on and haul these smokers anywhere your heart desires.
Our Luling smoker is hand forged and welded and follows a classic design. Tough as nails and matte black, it makes barbecuing and smoking meat a pleasure.
We believe that owning a classic offset smoker doesn’t just change the way you grill, but can change your lifestyle around grilling as well. Picking up a fine offset smoker for sale means your Sundays will now be spent watching fat clouds drift past as the rich scent of burning hardwood and smoking meat wafts in the air. It asks for more time to grill, but also more time to contemplate life. It permits you more time to spend with friends and family as you wait patiently for dinner to finish.
While our Texan roots mean that we take grilling, smoking and barbecuing very seriously, we are still firm believers in taking the day as it comes and knowing when it’s time to set the rat race aside and relax, while you smoke up some fine brisket on your Luling offset smoker.
